This newest and most powerful beacon utilizes L.E.D. technology combined with an innovative reflector optical design to maximize the effectiveness of light produced by long-life diodes. Clever solid-state design, user-selectable blinking and rotating modes, with no moving parts. LED beacon lights have a longer lifespan and usually come with a 2 year warranty. Whereas older beacons had a halogen spinner design that required gears and belts to oscillate the mirrors around the lighthouse. It later evolved into a static stroboscopic tube, which produced an intense white light, but was often very hot, consumed too much current and was easily damaged.
