Firstly, PC material is more stable an heavy than the ABS. And PC material has good toughness and is not easily damaged by external force. ABS material is obviously brighter than ABS material and a little bit weaker than PC material in terms of hardness. But it is not easy for PC to mould and demould when it comes to OEM service and customized service. Therefore, although the PC material is better than ABS in performance and features in some aspects, it has to be replaced by ABS in some conditions especially for working outside. Because ABS material has good resistance to acid and corrosion, in addition to high temperature. 

So we cannot blindly to judge which one is better from PC or ABS, we should choose one of them according to the working conditions.

We use silicone for encapsulation(left), which is soft and flexible to protect the insider components. The feeling is soft in terms of touching. And the silicone also have good resistance to high and low temperature, it can work between -40° and 250°. Besides, it is easy for this material to disassemble and re-encapsulate.

However, why people still use epoxy resin to encapsulate. This material is inexpensive and easy to store. And it has very good resistance to impact. But its resistance to high and low temperature is not as good as silicone. It will release lots of heat to influence on the lifespan. Admittedly, it also have its value and function on some special low power devices.
